Online Therapy British Columbia

Counselling available wherever you are in BC

Good therapy shouldn’t depend on where you live.

Whether you’re in Vancouver, Victoria, Kelowna, Prince George, or anywhere else in British Columbia — if you’re looking for support with anxiety, trauma, or relationship patterns, online therapy offers the same quality of work as in-person sessions, from wherever you are.

I’m Jill Koehler, a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and Approved Clinical Supervisor (RCC-ACS) based in Squamish, BC. I’ve been offering online counselling across British Columbia since 2018. The connection that makes therapy work — the sense of being genuinely heard and understood — translates surprisingly well online. Most people find it feels natural much sooner than they expected.

What online therapy actually looks like

Sessions take place over a secure video platform — similar to a regular video call, but designed for the privacy and security that therapy requires.

You can join from home, from your car, from a private space at work — wherever feels comfortable and private. All you need is a reasonably stable internet connection and somewhere you won’t be interrupted.

The work itself is the same as in-person therapy. We talk, we slow things down, we pay attention to what’s actually happening — in your body, in your patterns, in what keeps showing up. The distance doesn’t change that.

What I can help with online

All of my individual counselling services are available online across British Columbia:

Anxiety + Overthinking — when your mind won’t settle and the loops keep coming back

Trauma + PTSD — when past experiences are still shaping how you feel and react today

Relationship Patterns — individual work on the relational patterns that keep repeating

Premarital Counselling — building a strong foundation before the hard conversations become arguments

EMDR Therapy — available online and just as effective as in-person for most people

Clinical Supervision — individual, dyadic and group supervision for therapists across BC and beyond

Please note that couples counselling is available in person in Squamish only.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

For most people and most issues — yes. The research on online therapy is strong, particularly for anxiety, trauma, and depression. EMDR, which many people assume requires in-person delivery, has been shown to be equally effective online with appropriate adaptations.

What matters most isn’t the format — it’s the quality of the therapeutic relationship and the approach. Those translate well online.

If you’ve had a good experience with in-person therapy and are wondering whether online will feel different — it might, slightly, at first. Most people find it becomes comfortable quickly.

A note on privacy

Online sessions use a secure, encrypted platform that meets Canadian privacy standards. Your sessions are confidential in the same way as in-person therapy.

If privacy at home is a concern — if you share a space and aren’t sure you’ll have enough quiet or separation — it’s worth thinking through before we start. Some people use their car, a quiet café with headphones, or arrange a time when the house is empty. We can talk through what works best for your situation.
