Julia Bursey
Reduced Fee Sessions
About me…
I’m Julia, and I hold a Masters in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and am currently in the process of registering with the BCACC.
My professional background is varied, having owned my own business over the last several years, working with Pearls Space (formerly Howe Sound Women’s Centre), Sea to Sky Community Services, and doing my clinical hours for my Master’s has given me the invaluable hands-on experience to effectively hone my skills working with diverse populations, with complex presenting concerns.
On a personal note, after moving to BC without knowing anyone, establishing a community and investing in my own personal growth became imperative for balancing the complexities of day-to-day life. Currently, in true Squamish fashion, hiking the backcountry, my dog and my bike are some of things that help keep me grounded in the hecticness of life.
I draw from an eclectic background of theories, some of which include Client-Centred, Narrative Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS), all with the goal of creating a safe and collaborative space where clients can explore their unique narratives and find empowerment in their life circumstances.
I support clients in a number of areas including:
- Overcoming negative thought patterns
- Anxiety disorders and symptoms
- Loss of a relationship or job
- Issues related to self-esteem
- Difficulties coping with life transitions
- Body image difficulties
- Improving interpersonal communication.
I work with adult (18+) and couples.
I’m committed to creating a space where you feel valued and respected with a deep sense of trust within the therapeutic process. If you want to begin therapy or continue your journey, please book a free 15-minute consultation below. I offer in-person and online sessions.
Please note: I am able to offer sliding scale session rates based on not being able to accept insurance at this time, as I am working as a pre-registered counsellor. Let’s chat about this!
